Ciroma of Ilorin Cup: Gaa Akanbi FC to lock horns with SGFC Athletics in final on Saturday



The final of the much talked about Ciroma of Ilorin Football Competition will be held on Saturday, August 26.

Billed to take place at the Kwara Football Academy pitch, the game will see Gaa Akanbi FC and NLO side, SGFC Athletics lock horns together in the fight for who wins the tournament.

Speaking ahead of the final match, the Chief Organiser, Coach Akeju Olanrewaju said that the event will be colourful and memorable.

"All plans have been concluded to host a befitting final match on Saturday and prizes has been set aside for the winners and runners-up.

The Chief organiser also confirmed that the Alhaji Abubakar Bature Sulu-Gambari (SAN) whose honour the tournament was organised will be on ground.

"I can confirm to you that the Ciroma of Ilorin himself will be on ground amongst other top personalities within and outside the Ilorin Emirate.

He added that the tournament has gone along way in redirecting the youth to productive venture whilst also serving as a platform to discover football talents.

Stressing that over 500 across 20 teams participated in the tournament, he stated that the tournament has become a reference points in grassroots football development and the subsequent editions will be  bigger in scope.

Other dignitaries expected at the final match billed for 3pm on Saturday are the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission; Coach Bola Mogaji, Director of Sports in the Commission, Mallam Ibraheem Bako, Royal Chiefs from the Palace and a a host of others.

Earlier in the semifinal matches played on Thursday, Gaa Akanbi FC defeated Dickalo FC 5-4 on penalties after playing out 2-2 draw in the regulation time while SGFC Athletics also defeated Kwara Football Academy 2-1 book that final spot.
