Football was cruel with our teams say Hon. Yussuf Alli

Edo state sport commission chairman Hon. Yussuf Alli come out to say that football was cruel with the Edo state team at just concluded Nigeria Premier Football League Championship playoff and the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Super 6 where Bendel Insurance and Edo Queens featured respectively in Lagos and Asaba respectively.

Speaking exclusively inside the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium Benin, the Sport commission chairman admitted that the Benin Arsenal would have done well if they have converted some of the chances they created in Lagos.

“For me as a person I won`t say it was a disappointment because the boys and the girls played out their heart out, sometimes you go to a stage and you don`t measure up.

I was in Lagos and I saw all the games and I felt if we have taking our chances to have qualified like the first two games, we should have won both games but if you don`t take your chances in football you will lose we drew our first games because we didn`t take our chance and I think it’s a learning process and we still have the Federation cup which give us another window for us to qualified for the continental ticket.

Don`t forget that the team just came back from the second-tier league of football in Nigeria National League (NNL) and to come to the premiership and top their group is not an easy job knowing with me that it’s a serious business which we have learned from it in Lagos and hopefully we would put it everything together ahead of next season but in all I must commend them”.

Skippo as fondly called in his active sports days maintained that there is no issue of sacking on both the coaches of the Edo state team despite the outcome over the weekend.

“I don`t think there are pressure because no coach would go into the Super 6 with the hope of losing their job, when you at look Coach Wemimo period with Edo Queens, they had series of bad results and not management all over the world will see a team going on with poor results and they will keep such a coach to continue because you are as good as your last results.

But for Coach Monday Odigie and Coach Moses Aduku are doing well despite not winning one or two games means they should be sack. All we need to do is just to back them till the day they will call it quit with us as coaches of Edo state teams”. Yussuf Alli concluded.
