Massive turnout as Ilorin Mega Walk To Live 10,000 steps event holds




It was a massive turn out of people of different ages as the second edition of the Ilorin mega walk to live event hold on Saturday.

Tagged 10,000 steps, the event, which was organised by the Exercise is Medicine initiative attracted all and sundry to another dynamic way of fitness walk.

The walk, which was declared open by the Director of Sports, University of Ilorin, Professor Tajudeen Ibrahim kick off around 7am at the entrance of the Kwara State Stadium Complex.

With its rythm and fecundity-laced movement, the walk took the participants around some major areas of the Ilorin metropolis which includes the Unity Junction, Challenge area, Post office ,Taiwo Oke and Isale.

While participants had an amazing moment taking the walk, the event was complemented by aerobic exercise which was handled by invited fitness instructors at the finish point. 

Speaking after the walk, the CEO of Exercise is Medicine initiative, Instructor Akorede Kehinde Monsuru emphasized the importance of exercise in order to enhance the well being.

"The message we are trying to pass with this event is to create more awareness about the importance of exercise which according to our company is Medicine"

"We would like thank a lot of people who made the event a success. While this will remain an annual event, we will continue to deepen conversation around healthy living through through other means from our company" he said.

In her own remarks, the former Director of Sports at the University of Ilorin, Professor Leah Dominic urged the participants to always engage in exercise, adding that a healthy lifestyle is not achievable without strategic effort targeted towards body fitness.

Among many other important personalities who participated at the event includes Professor Akanji, Second Vice President of NAWIS, Hajia Hadiza, Sportspro News Publisher, Bayour Issah, Wing Commander Labbo, Nigeria National Amputee soccer team Captain, Sarafadeen Oyeleke amongst others
