House of Prayer Football Academy are Kay Cup Champions
House of Prayer FA have emerged champions of the fourth edition of the Kay Cup football tournament.
The J. Omorinoye boys as they're fondly called defeated Young Atlas FC 6-5 on penalties to clinch the trophy in the match played on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Kwara Football Academy Pitch.
The well-attended and pulsating final game was dragged to the penalties after both teams played 1-1 in the regulation time.
Earlier in the day, Barrier FA also defeated Okaa Sports FC 8-7 to win the third place final.
Awards and cash prizes of #5,000 were dolled out to distinguished players and Coach for their outstanding performances in the tournament.
While the winner takes home a cash prize of #50,000, the runner up and the third place winner received #30,000 and #20,000 respectively alongside commemorative medals.
The competition, which is aimed at honouring the memory of the late football enthusiast and philanthropist, Olukayode Atoyebi was facilitated by Kolawole Jeremiah Coker popularly known as Marazina Coker.
The Olukayode Atoyebi foundation is the sponsor of the tournament.
Some of the guest at the event includes, ABS Ilorin Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka; Former Technical Director of Kwara Football Academy, Coach Paul Odey; Mr Taofeeq Popoola ; Alhaja Sherifat Adunni Dawodu, CEO Sheraday Global Services and the Publisher of Sportspro News, Bayour Issah.
Others include Coach Samson Unuanel, Coach Ashifat Sulyman, Coach Taofeeq Babatunde who have all worked with Kwara United in different capacities
