4th Edition of Kay Cup Football Competition Gets December 5 Kick off Date




The organisers of the foremost Kay Cup Football Competition has announced Monday, December 5 as the kick off date for the 4th edition of the tournament.

Being organized in honour of the late philanthropist, Olukayode Atoyebi, the tournament is also aimed at discovering football talents across the nooks and crannies of Kwara State.

Speaking to newsmen in Ilorin on Friday, the facilitator of the tournament, Coker Kolawole Jeremiah noted that 16 teams will be participating in this year's edition of the football showpiece.

"A total number of 16 teams will be participating in the tournament. Once again, we are fully ready to celebrate grassroots football in honor of the great Philanthropist, Olukayode Atoyebi".said Marazina Coker as he is fondly called.

He commended the sponsor, Olukayode Atoyebi foundation for their efforts in keeping up with their support to the tournament which he said it has now become a platform for youth to showcase their talents.

Teams that will be throwing in their aces for the tournament includes the defending champions, Aromokeye FC; Shining Stars FC, Waziri FC, Kwara Football Academy, House of Prayer FA, Barrier FA, Nationwide FC and Okaa Sports FA.

Others are Okaa Sports FC, Abraysports FC, YK Super Star FC, Gaa Akanbi FC, Petvic SC, Laderin FC, Young Atlas and Oke Kudu FC.

All the group stage matches including the final will take place at the pitches of Kwara Football Academy.

Recall that Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri will lead the U20 team to the AFCON in Egypt.
