Rukayat Mustapha Eyes International Appearance As National Athletics Trials Begin In Benin
The Kwara -born Athletes has revealed that her ultimate mission as the National Trials begins in Benin on Friday is to secure an international appearance and represent the Country.
An athlete of track and field with specialisation in Discus and Shotput, Rukayat stated that her greatest desire is to represent Nigeria at the international level and done the National colours.
" I hope to throw the standard for the female Discus throw and qualify for the World Junior and some other major competitions later this year- that is my dream" she said.
While noting her personal best records in Discus and Shotput, she expressed her readiness to beat those feats in order to become an inspiration to others.
"I have a personal best of 41.80m in Discus throw and 9.89m in Shotput . I really do hope to do more in order to become an inspiration to others"
"Engaging in sport gives me goals and sense of accomplishment, having a resolute mind in making real life decisions both on/off track" she explained the reason of her choice to become an Athlete.
The trials, organised by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) among many other objectives willl serve as the avenue to make final selection of Nigeria representatives to the Commonwealth Games and World Athletics Championship.
It is billed to hold from June 24th to 26th at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo State Capital.
