La Planet Sport Academia Emerges Champions Of Gov. Abdulrahman Football Competition






La Planet Sport Academia on Sunday added another title to their trophy's cabinet after clinching the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq U-23 Youth Soccer Competiton.

The Coach Sheriff Jimoh led side defeated Flash Bombers FC 5-4 on penalties after playing out a 1-1 draw in the regulation time.

A tough soaked encounter, it was all a great display of soccer  artistry at the final of the Tournament played at the football pitch of Government Day Secondary School, Karuma, Ilorin.

Aliu Ferinyaro had in the first half sent the fans to a wild jubilation when he handed a Flash Bombers a lead from a long range free kick before  
Muhammed Abdullahi  complemented the effort of the determined La Planet Sport Academia as he netted the equalizer from the spot. 

The tournament, organized by Morrow International Football Competiton was aimed at honouring the giant strides of Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Earlier, Champion FC defeated Gambari United FC 2-0 in the third place final of the tournament which had 20 teams on its fixtures. 

Among many other dignitaries who witnessed the grand finale on Sunday were the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission; Mallam Bola Magaji, Nigeria Pillar of Sports; Chief Agu Ejidike, Administrator of Kwara Football Academy; Mallam Ibrahim Bako, a board member of the Kwara State Sports Commission and former Nigeria International, Dele Abubakar and a host of others.

La Planet are reputed for winning one of the most prominent pre-season tournaments in the country, Amapro football championship in 2020.

In 2021, the football outfit won Kwara State Football
Super League, AGF Abdulrazaq Football Tournament and YSFON U-17 football competiton. 

While one of its product, Abdulgafar Opeyemi is currently plying his trade with FK Kauno Zalgris, a Liuthania based elite league side, another graduate of the Academy, Abdulganiyu Suleiman is currently making waves with ABS Ilorin FC in the NNL.

Maiduguri-born Tahur Maigana makes Flying Eagles AFCON squad One of the talents to look out for in the upcoming U20 AFCON is Tahir Maigana The young player who was born and bred in Maiduguri, Borno State, is plying his trade with Wireless Football Club based in Abuja, Nigeria.  The natural left footer is a genius and will wow the spectators during the tournament. Recall that Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri will lead the U20 team to the AFCON in Egypt.
