Kwara Handball Coach appeals for more support as Adorable Angels set for Premier League

Ahead of the first phase of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League, 2022 billed for Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, Coach Isiaka Atanda of Kwara Adorable Angels has appealed for more support as the team head in to their third season of elite league.

Speaking at the team's training ground on Tuesday, the gaffer noted that the team has been preparing for the league although with handful of challenges.

"We are trying to make things work because two of our players has gone to Nigeria Security and  Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC) Handball team because of the job given to them- there's no job opportunity here. So, we are preparing with the other players" he said.

Atanda who rued the departure of the Players said the team is still poised to make exploits even as he noted that finance has always been one of the major constraints affecting the team.

"We just want to go and show them that even though four of our players leave, we will still do it. The only problem we are facing is mostly financial problem- like now we are supposed to have been in closed camping since two weeks ago but we just resumed four or five days ago" he lamented

He appealed to the government to provide job opportunities for the players in order to avoid their poaching from other teams.

"We are appealing to the government to please try and support us and give these players job opportunity in the State so that they won't be able to take them away from us because when we go for another league now there's possibility that they will still take some of them away".

"Our Association caretaker Chairman is trying for us and the government; but that of government use to come only during the time of competition and after that nothing more" he concluded.

Adorable Angels emerged the  champions of the 2020 edition of the league in their debut season after an impressive run. The team were runners-up in  the 2021 edition.

The first phase of this year's edition of the league will hold from May 22 through June 3 at the MKO Stadium in Abuja.
