Abimbola Queens Outshine Fatoba Queens in Ekiti Oba's Cup Novelty Match
It was all glitz and glamour on Tuesday when Abimbola Queens defeated Fatoba Queens in a novelty match played at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti.
The novelty match, which was part of the events lined up for the final match of the maiden edition of Ekiti Obas' Cup had the Stadium filled to its brim as fans and spectators were treated to the best of soccer artistry.
In a game that could be described as a prelude to the final encounter, Abimbola Queens were no doubt the better side as they took the game to their opponents' halve with finesse and seamless transition of play throughout the regulation time.
It was Tolulope Omoluyi that broke the deadlock for the Abimbola Queens in the 5th minutes in to the game before John Marvelous doubled the lead three minutes later to the delight of spectators.
Even when the Kwara-based football team couldn't add more to their goal's bank in the second half, their defense set up were on hand wading off goal attempt from the Ekiti-based Fatoba ladies.
Speaking after the encounter, the Proprietress of Abimbola Queens ,Chief Mrs. Abimbola Olaoye commended the players for their great display of soccer skills which she said spelled a great future to their careers.
Chief Olaoye who expressed her satisfaction with the idea of the tournament with it's ideal of enhancing the unity across the length and breadth of Ekiti State urged the organisers not to relent in their efforts in grassroots football development.
"I am satisfied with what I have seen here so far. It's a good development for players and the community. I am proud of myself and my team to be part of this event and I pray for more success in our future outings" she concluded.
