MK Usman Tourney: Again, Katcha, Mokwa Book Final Tickets
For the second time consecutively , Katcha and Mokwa local governments will be squaring up again in the final of Alhaji MK Usman Zone 'A' football championship in Kudu, Mokwa local government area of Niger State.
Katcha football team won the inaugural edition of the tournament after defeating their Mokwa counterpart 4-2 on penalties and also replicate their dominance with a 2 nil victory over the same team in the opening game of the second edition.
In the semi-final encounters played on Saturday, Katcha strode to the final on a high note with a 4 nil victory over Bida in while Mokwa grabbed their final ticket with a 2 nil triumph over Kusopa United to set up another showdown.
The Chairman of the local organising committee (LOC), Yunusa Afolabi expressed his satisfaction about the performances and conduct of the teams as he believes that the consistency of organising the tourney will help in discovering more talents and aid in sharpening their skills.
"I really commend the performances of the teams and I believe that this competition will continue to help in discovering talents and give them the opportunity to showcase their skills and maximize it" says Afolabi.
He commended the sole sponsor of the tournament, Alhaji MK Usman for his philanthropist gesture and his efforts towards youth and sports development in the grassroots.
Expressing their readiness to organize another befitting final event , he revealed that the date for the third place match and final of the tournament will be announced to the public very soon.
While all local governments in the Niger State South Senatorial district had presented a team for the tournament alongside the host community, Lapai local government were the only team missing on the card.
