Ilorin United FC Sets Sight On Trophy As Oduduwa Peace Cup Final Holds In Kaduna



It's going to be an epochal cum heavyweight clash on Sunday November 21 when Ilorin United FC roll out their aces against Ogbomoso Ajilete FC in the final of the second edition of Oduduwa peace and unity cup in Kaduna.

Speaking exclusively to Sportspro News in an interview, Ilorin United Coach, Muhammed Jamiu, who is popularly known as Hadji designer says his lads are ready to clinch the title even as they face an uphill task against the defending champion of the tournament, Ogbomoso Ajilete FC.

He stated that the team has been impressive since the beginning of the tournament; having won  five of their last games and drew only one.

According to the Coach, the team in its first match played out a 1-1 with Offa, defeated Iwo 2 nil, thrashed Okun 4 goals to 2 and edged past Ibadan 2-1 in the group stage games.

"We played against Iloffa and beat them 1-0 in the quarter final before we defeated Offa 6-5 on penalties in the semi-final" he added.

"We are fully prepared for the final because we are playing against the defending champion (Ogbomoso Ajilete FC). They have very good players and we have watched them. We know the way they are playing and Inshallah Ilorin is going to lift the trophy" said the gaffer.

Organized by the Yoruba community in Kaduna, the championship aims to foster peaceful coexistence and promote unity among all the Yoruba descents living in the State. 

The final is billed for the ancient Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
